May 22 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1500 GMT on Sunday.

KHOST - Three Afghan police, two soldiers and a civilian were killed when four Taliban insurgents wearing suicide vests attacked a police compound in the eastern city of Khost, provincial governor Abdul Jabar Naeemi and other officials said. Naeemi said two of the attackers blew themselves up during a siege lasting several hours and the other two were shot dead. Mohammad Yaqub, the deputy police chief for Khost province, said two explosions and gunfire were heard from the police traffic unit building soon after the attack began. At least one building was set on fire. Interior Ministry spokesman Zemari Bashary said a car packed with explosives was also found near the scene and was being defused.

HERAT - Taliban insurgents killed three police and wounded four in an attack on a police outpost in the Obe district of western Herat province, said district police chief Sher Agha.

ZABUL - Two women were killed and five civilians wounded when a tractor they were travelling in was hit by a roadside bomb in the Shah Joy district of southeastern Zabul province, the Interior Ministry said.

* KABUL - A service member from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed by a homemade bomb in eastern Afghanistan, ISAF said in a statement. It gave no other details.

KANDAHAR - Afghan troops killed four insurgents during a gun battle in the Zherai district of southern Kandahar province, the Defence Ministry said.

KANDAHAR - Two Afghan police were wounded by a bomb found on a motorbike in Kandahar city, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement. (Compiled by Kabul bureau; Editing by Paul Tait)
