May 24(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1230 GMT on Tuesday.

KANDAHAR - Ten Afghan construction workers were killed and 28 wounded when their truck hit a roadside bomb in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, said Kandahar health official Abdul Qayum Pukhla.

* KABUL - A French fighter jet attached to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) crashed in western Afghanistan, ISAF and French defence officials said. They said both pilots had been rescued unhurt after ejecting from the plane. The crash was not the result of enemy fire, French military spokesman Thierry Burkhard said. [ID:nLDE74N0ZQ]

* KABUL - Two ISAF service members were killed by roadside bombs in separate incidents in southern Afghanistan on Monday, the coalition said. It gave no other details. Australian defence officials in Canberra said that an Australian commando had been killed in southern Afghanistan on Monday.

KABUL - A suicide car bomber tried to kill Ahmad Zia, the deputy head of the Afghan intelligence agency the National Directorate of Security (NDS), on the outskirts of Kabul, police officials said. The bomber was shot and wounded before he could detonate his explosives, said Hashmat Stanekzai, a spokesman for the Kabul police chief.

BALKH - Four children were killed by a bomb in a playground in northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, said police commander Daad Mohammad Wafa. (Compiled by Kabul bureau; Editing by Paul Tait)
