Following are security developments in Iraq at 0630 GMT on Sunday.
BAGHDAD - Gunmen using silenced weapons opened fire and killed a senior official from the ministry of higher education with his son near their home in Baghdad's Ghazaliya district, an interior ministry source said.
MOSUL - A roadside bomb exploded near a convoy carrying the head of Nineveh provincial council, wounding three of his security guards late on Saturday in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
