BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 27 (Reuters) - Tornadoes and storms that lashed the U.S. South on Wednesday killed 25 people in Alabama alone over a 24-hour period, state authorities said.
"I can confirm the 25 deaths in Alabama were related to today's weather," Valerie Hayes, a spokeswoman for the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, told Reuters, adding that the deaths occurred in nine different counties and that nine people were injured. (Editing by Eric Walsh)
