WASHINGTON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - The loss of 30 U.S. troops in Saturday's helicopter crash in Afghanistan will not deter the United States from its mission in the country, U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday.

"I know that our troops will continue the hard work of transitioning to a stronger Afghan government and ensuring that Afghanistan is not a safe haven for terrorists," he said in remarks delivered at the White House. "We will press on and we will succeed." (Reporting by Laura MacInnis)
