(Repeats to widen distribution)
Aug 13(Reuters)- - A tropical wave extending from Central America north-eastward to near Jamaica has a low 20 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Tuesday.
"Upper-level winds are expected to become more favorable for development over the next couple of days while the disturbance moves toward the Yucatan Peninsula," the Miami-based weather forecasters said.
The conditions are expected to become less favorable over the southern Gulf of Mexico in the few days, the NHC said. (Reporting by Koustav Samanta in Bangalore)
