SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 10 (Reuters) - A fast-moving Northern California wildfire has destroyed 80 structures and damaged 30 others, and more than 500 residents of a small community were told to evacuate ahead of the flames, fire officials said on Tuesday.

The so-called Clover Fire, which broke out Monday afternoon, has charred 7,400 acres (3,000 hectares) near Happy Valley, some 200 miles north of San Francisco, said Mike Witesman, spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire).

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries, and 30 of the 80 destroyed structures were homes, Witesman said. Another 30 homes were damaged by the fire, which was 40 percent contained as of Tuesday afternoon.

An additional 300 structures remain under threat, prompting the evacuations, Witesman said.

"Because of the very dry weather we've had, the conditions are very volatile," he said.

The Clover fire was burning about 200 miles north of a mountain blaze east of San Francisco that forced the evacuation of about 100 homes at the edge of the town of Clayton on Sunday. The so-called Morgan Fire, which scorched some 3,200 acres, was 45 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, according to a CalFire website.
