Tropical storm Karen is forecast to strike the United States at about 06:00 GMT on 6 October. Data supplied by the US National Hurricane Center suggest that the point of landfall will be near 28.6 N, 89.4 W. Karen is expected to bring 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region of around 74 km/h (46 mph). Wind gusts in the area may be considerably higher.
