STORY: Thousands continue to pour out on the streets to see and pay their respects to former South African President, Nelson Mandela as the coffin carrying him returns to the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Thursday (December 12).

After staying in the 1 Military Hospital overnight, the coffin made its daily procession towards the Union Buildings, where the anti-apartheid hero was inaugurated in 1994 as South Africa's first black president.

Thousands of people lined up on Wednesday (December 11) to say goodbye to Mandela.

Several people fainted in the stifling heat as South Africans waited for their turn to file past Mandela's casket.

Family members, foreign dignitaries and celebrities were the first to pay their respects.

His body will lie in state for three days before being flown on Saturday to Qunu, his home in the Eastern Cape Provinc.
