A hospital explodes in Aleppo.

Amateur video which can not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show a hospital under attack.

Once Syria's most populous city, the former commercial hub of Aleppo has been divided roughly in half by the warring parties. Rebels hold most of Aleppo province, but the government wants to keep a foothold in the north, where rebel supplies flood in from Turkey.

After close to three years of war, fighting has settled into a broad stalemate in which dozens are killed everyday.

The war has claimed the lives more than 100,000 and driven millions into neighboring countries.
