Jan 26 (Reuters) - A hospital in Texas said on Sunday it plans to follow a judge's order to remove a brain-dead pregnant woman from life support following a legal battle with her husband, who had argued that the fetus she has been forced to carry is withering in her lifeless body.
JPS Health Network said in a statement that it will no longer give "life-sustaining" treatment to Marlise Munoz, whom the court ruled on Friday was legally dead.
"JPS Health Network has followed what we believed were the demands of a state statute. From the onset, JPS has said its role was not to make nor contest law but to follow it," the statement said. "The hospital will follow the court order." (Reporting By Jonathan Allen; Editing by Cynthia Johnston)
