RICHMOND, Va., Sept 4 (Reuters) - A federal jury on Thursday found former Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, guilty of corruption charges, the Washington Post said in a tweet.

The newspaper said McDonnell was found guilty of 11 corruption charges, while his wife was convicted on eight corruption counts.

McDonnell, a Republican, and his wife had faced charges they accepted $177,000 in luxury gifts and sweetheart loans from dietary supplement entrepreneur Jonnie Williams Sr. in exchange for promoting his company and its main product. (Reporting by Ian Simpson in Washington; Editing by Peter Cooney)
