LONDON (TrustLaw) - A Brazilian police chief has been arrested on suspicion of ordering the murder of a judge who specialised in investigating police corruption, the BBC reported.
Prosecutors said Claudio Luiz de Oliveira, chief of police in the city of Sao Goncalo, ordered the killing of Judge Patricia Acioli in order to cover up another murder committed by Oliveira’s officers.
The judge had gained a reputation for being tough on police corruption, handing out stiff sentences in a number of cases, the BBC said.
