MAPUTO, Jan 24 (Reuters) - At least 25 people have been killed and thousands displaced by flooding in Mozambique, a government official said on Tuesday, but industry sources said coal exports have not been affected.

Dulce Chilundo, the national director of emergency operations, told a news conference that the worst affected areas were in northern Zambezia province, where it remained difficult to reach remote areas.

"We believe that the number of dead is more than 25. In Zambezia province we are still checking the damages," Chilundo said. Those who died perished as the waters rose from Sunday to Monday.

Industry sources said there had been no problem with the movement of coal, an emerging industry in the country, but if the heavy rains persist it could become a problem.
