March 8 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Pakistan on Thursday at 1215 GMT.

* indicates new or updated items

* AKA KHEL - One child was killed, and a woman and a child were injured when a mortar shell hit a house in the Bara area of Aka Khel, in northwest Pakistan's Khyber tribal region, security officials said.

SARWAKAI - Militants attacked a Pakistan Army post in the Sarwakai area of the South Waziristan tribal region, near the Afghanistan border, killing a soldier, security officials said.

Several militant groups, including the Pakistan Taliban, have strongholds in South Waziristan, and often take advantage of the porous frontier to conduct cross-border attacks against NATO and Afghan forces. (Reporting by Saud Mehsud in DERA ISMAIL KHAN)
