LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - A helicopter crashed near a rail station in central London on Wednesday, the fire service said.
"We're attending reports of a helicopter crash," the London fire service said in a statement. The police said they were aware of an incident but declined to give any further details.
Sky News said one pilot was on board the helicopter when it crashed into a crane on a building site near Vauxhall train station, a major commuter station on the south side of central London.
"You can see smoke billowing out just past the bridge," Robert Oxley, an eyewitness at the scene told Sky News. Footage on the BBC showed flames raging on a road. (Reporting by Michael Holden and Kate Holton; editing by Guy Faulconbridge and Patrick Graham)
