(Adds spokesman for university chancellor)
LOS ANGELES, April 18 (Reuters) - A Los Angeles college campus was being evacuated on Thursday over what a university official described as a threat, and police said they were responding to reports of a suspicious package.
A Los Angeles police spokeswoman said a bomb squad was sent to the campus of California State University, which has an enrollment of about 20,000 students.
Security officials across the United States have been on alert in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings on Monday.
Mike Uhlenkamp, a spokesman for California State University Chancellor Timothy White, said there had been "some sort of threat" that prompted the campus-wide evacuation.
