WASHINGTON, March 15 (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy said on Tuesday some arriving warships will take position on the west coast of Honshu instead of heading to the east coast as planned because of "radiological and navigation hazards."
The risks of the relief mission have been illustrated by the growing number of U.S. forces who are being exposed to low-levels of radiation. Still, a Navy spokesman said the exposure levels of returning crew were well within safety limits and that operations to assist close ally Japan will continue.
