SYDNEY, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Australia was not at risk from a tsunami after a powerful earthquake struck near the Solomon Islands on Wednesday, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology said.
The quake with an initial magnitude of 8.0 had triggered a tsunami warning for South Pacific islands closer to the epicentre, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said earlier. (Reporting by Lincoln Feast; Editing by Ken Wills)
