Pure Water for the World Joins 1% for the Planet
(Waitsfield, VT) - 1% for the Planet, an alliance of over 1,380 member companies in 43 countries that give one percent of revenues to charitable causes, has announced that Pure Water for the World has been accepted as a beneficiary organization of their program. Pure Water for the World is a Vermont-based non-profit that provides water filtration systems and hygiene education to underserved communities in Haiti and Honduras.
Pure Water for the World is now eligible to receive donations from 1% member companies, placing them among a diverse, global network of non-profit organizations. 1% member businesses fuel this non-profit network through their annual contributions, which totaled over $22 million in 2010. Partnership with 1% greatly expands the potential pool of funding to which Pure Water can look to for support.
Pure Water prevents children from suffering from water borne diseases that cause pain, misery and death as a result of consuming contaminated water and improper hygiene habits. They do this by providing sustainable, safe drinking water filtration systems, latrines and hygiene education to families and communities in developing countries.
“Our acceptance into 1% for the Planet reinforces the importance of our work while helping us raise vital funding,” said Pure Water Executive Director Carolyn Meub “With 1% for the Planet’s support, we will continue to improve and save lives with high-impact, simple solutions that protect children and families from contracting cholera and other waterborne illnesses.”
