(Updates) Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1200 GMT on Tuesday.

* denotes new or updated items

* KUNAR - Four insurgents were killed by a NATO air strike in the eastern Kunar province when they attempted to attack a prison in Asadabad district, police said.

A 12-year-old child was also killed by insurgents' gunfire, added Kunar police chief Ewaz Mohammad Naziri.

* KUNAR - A roadside mine killed two civilians in Kunar's Manogai district, police chief Naziri said.

KABUL - A homemade mine killed two insurgents and their two children in the southern Helmand province on Monday, the interior ministry said in a statement. One more child was wounded in the attack in the province's Grishk district.

KABUL - Afghan security forces and foreign troops killed four insurgents, wounded one and detained eight more around the country over the past 24 hours, the interior ministry said in a statement.
