AMMAN, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Syrian security forces injured four youth on Monday when they fired live ammunition at a night demonstration against President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, activists said.

"There were hundreds of demonstrators at the main square of Hajar al-Aswad and suddenly buses of security police and shabbiha (pro-Assad militia) turned up and started firing at the crowd. The four were taken to be treated at homes," Abu Abdallah, one of the activists, told Reuters by phone from Hajar al-Aswad.

The neighbourhood, at the southern entrance of Damascus, is home to tens of thousands of refugees from the Israeli occupied Golan Heights. Palestinian refugees also live in the area. (Reporting by Khaled Yacoub Oweis, Amman newsroom)
