WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) - The United States is looking at a full range of options for Libya, U.S. defense officials said on Tuesday, but no decisions have been made even as Washington steps up pressure on Muammar Gaddafi to step down.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates told reporters that the Pentagon was moving two amphibious assault ships and hundreds of Marines into the Mediterranean, where they could help with evacuation and humanitarian relief if needed.

Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the Obama administration was looking at a full range of options but had not yet made any decisions. (Reporting by Missy Ryan; Editing by Sandra Maler)
