Programme Officer – Daka, Senegal

The total salary package for this position is £26,808 - £29,544 per annum* (circa $42,900 - $47,250 USD) including basic salary and cost of living allowance.

About the Sahel West Africa Regional programme:

MAG has been working in the Sahel West Africa region since December 2013, with our head office based in Dakar, Senegal. The programme currently has projects in 3 countries in Chad, Mali and Niger, with the intention of beginning projects in other West African countries in due course. In each of these locations, MAG works to improve the management of arms and ammunition, which have often been amassed in large quantities due to conflict, cross-border insecurity and the prevalence of non-state armed groups. MAG works with national authorities to reduce the risks of such weapons entering illicit markets and unplanned explosions in munitions depots.

 

About the role:

Reporting to the Regional Representative, the Programme Officer will be responsible for proposal development, report writing, grant management and assist to ensure the programme meets contractual requirements. You will be based in Dakar but will travel to other locations within the region as required.

 

About you:

The successful candidate will need experience working overseas in international aid or development, ideally in a conflict/post conflict environment. You will need fluent French language skills, with a good level of written and spoken English. Working in a small team of international staff based in several countries, you will also need to demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ideally, you will have gained experience writing reports and proposals for a range of institutional donor, with the ability to produce written material of the highest quality in both English and French is essential.
