The role
The Area Manager will be responsible for operations in the Central Area of Save the Children Yemen country program. This is comprised of offices and interventions in Amran and Sana'a.The Area Manager will be the focal point for this region of Save the Children's activities ensuring effective management of programs, resources, staff and support functions in both field sites and will contribute to the development of an area specific strategy and fundraising for enhanced program activity according to prevailing needs.
The role is an accompanied position for a period of 12 months.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
- Advanced degree or equivalent (Development or Management) preferred.
- Substantial experience working with a humanitarian/development organisation
- Skills and experience in project/programme implementation, monitoring, review and evaluation
- Substantial people and programme management experience with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
- Substantial experience in office management with a good understanding of logistics, HR and finance procedures.
- Solid experience in grant management, including budget holding and donor reporting.
- Substantial understanding or proven experience of security management issues.
- Ability to produce high quality reports in English
- Representational, political awareness and advocacy skills.
- Experience of working with partners and a participatory approach
- Fluency in written and spoken English and computer literate.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
- Knowledge of Arabic will be an asset
- Ability to work within a team
