We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join us as Anticipation Information Management Officer, developing information management arrangements to support the delivery of the Start Fund Anticipation Window. This role will help to facilitate the co-development of standard forecasting information products for the Start Fund.

Currently hosted by Save the Children, the Start Network envisions a humanitarian sector that is more diverse, decentralised and collaborative. It seeks to change the sector through work in three key areas: Start Fund (for rapid financing emergency responses), Start Engage (for strengthening civil society capacity) and Start Labs (for experimentation, rapid prototyping and learning).  Comprising ofnearly 7,000 partner agencies and with a staff of a quarter of a million working in 200 countries and territories, the Network’s reach is vast enabling it to influence change internationally.

The Start Fund is currently building its capacity to respond earlier to crises through anticipation and forecast based action. As Anticipation Information Management Officer, you will develop templates for forecasting information products which improve understanding of forecasts for Start Fund decision-makers. You will also work with the Start Fund Team to lead the development of a partnerships strategy, forecasting information required to service the Start Fund Anticipation Window. You will also:

  • Successfully establish and manage partnerships with forecasting agencies to provide high-quality standard forecasting information products
  • Work with the Start Fund Anticipation Learning Officer to systematically collate and analyse evidence of forecasting information for a Start Fund Anticipation Learning Review document
  • Collaborate effectively with the Start Network Team, member agencies, service providers, consortia and governance structures
  • Develop, participate in and promote approaches to partnering that provides alternatives to existing restrictive partnering arrangements.

To be successful you will be adaptable and innovative with substantial experience in partnership development in national and/or international contexts. You will be familiar with graphics software and have successful experience creating and implementing a partnership strategy, as well as engaging a variety of stakeholders to deliver against this strategy. In addition you will have:

  • Substantial experience of communication techniques, including communication the uncertain nature of forecasting information effectively
  • Experience in partnership development and/or networks with a track record of brokering and/or cultivating successful relationships
  • Strong experience in preparing for, responding to and delivering programmes in developing countries and/or humanitarian emergencies, particularly in an information management role
  • Strong presentation and writing skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues on all levels in a dispersed and multicultural professional environment
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills to tackle complex problems.
