Role overview
Myanmar is slowly opening up to the outside world, after an extended period of isolation. This is a very exciting context in which to work. This role focuses specifically on providing coaching and training for Myanmar paediatricians in a specialist new-born survival unit, in the best public hospital in Yangon.

Skills, qualifications and experience required
An ideal candidate will have ALL of the qualities below, but we anticipate appointing candidates who may not have all, but does have a strong clinical background; some relevant work experience and most importantly- teaching / coaching experience in the health sector.

Qualifications required:
Qualification as a pediatrician or medical doctor with advanced degree and advanced clinical background in paediatric care.

Essential:
• At least 7 years work experience in paediatric care with progressively increasing responsibilities
• Prior training experience; excellent clinical training skills including participatory and experiential methods.
• Up-to-date knowledge in the field of maternal and paediatric health, including some or all of the following: new born care, neonatal resuscitation, neonatal jaundice, neonatal infection.
• Solid communication, presentation and writing skills.
• Demonstrated self-management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure, adaptability).
• Willingness to live outside Yangon and work in a rural or semi-rural district.

Desirable:
• Knowledge of strategic planning, training programme development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Myanmar language (failing which a translator will be provided).
• Previous developing country work experience

Working with some of the best qualified new born-health specialists in Myanmar, you will be helping them to further develop their expertise, knowledge and skill; and thus reduce infant portality rates which are some of the highest in Asia.
