Contract length: 2 years, with the possibility of extension


The role
As a key member of the Asia Operations team you will play an active part in defining and implementing Save the Children’s strategic approach to logistics and supply chain in the Asia Region. You will be a key member of the global logistics working group, supporting critical projects that are bringing about transformational change in our country-level operations.

You will work with Country Offices to analyse, design and implement efficient and effective logistics and supply chain resources and assets so that they meet their commitments and accountabilities to beneficiaries and donors.

You will provide technical support to Country logistics managers on all aspects of logistics and supply chain management in order to reduce operational costs, minimise wastage and improve the quality and timeliness of projects.


Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • 5 years or more experience in logistics management including 3 years managing humanitarian logistics in conflict or disaster affected countries
  • Technical excellence in at least two of the following areas: supply chain management including procurement, fleet management, communications (incl. radio and satellite infrastructure), medical supply chain management
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations of major institutional donors with regards to logistics and procurement
  • Computer literate (including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel) and advanced competency in development of spreadsheets, databases and other means to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Track-record of making productive contributions to teams in a working under pressure
  • Fluency in English (required) and additional knowledge of one or more of the Asian languages (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and to change plans quickly in event of humanitarian crises in the region; Interest in deploying to major emergencies as part of Save the Children’s global roster

Desirable

  • Experience of training, coaching and other approaches to staff capacity building
  • Experience in planning and managing budgets and projects
  • Proven ability to handle complex workload with multiple stakeholders (experience in a matrix structure beneficial)
