Oxfam GB has been working in South Sudan since 1983. Our current programmes include Public Health and Livelihoods initiatives in various locations across the country. We also have an Emergency Preparedness and Response Initiative with a country-wide mandate and cross cutting themes in Gender, Policy & Advocacy and Conflict Sensitive Programming. The humanitarian situation in the country is critical and it is for this reason that we are looking for a dynamic, resourceful and experienced person to take a lead on all security/safety matters for Oxfam.

The post holder will be the first point of contact for all security matters for Oxfam in South Sudan. They will be responsible for ongoing analysis of the context and developments in relation to the security situation in country. They will develop and maintain up-to-date context analysis and risks assessments; support management and programme teams to make security decisions; develop and maintain an incident reporting system and a database of incidents, develop and maintain SOPs for each programme location; maintain close contacts with all relevant stakeholders and provide security training for staff.

To effectively carry out this role you will have considerable practical experience of managing security in a complex context. You will be familiar with security procedures in the context of UN or NGO humanitarian operations. You will have proven influencing and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences including in complex and stressful circumstances. Proven experience of field based training will be essential as well as ability to advice and support field staff in a consultative manner.
