The Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a Senior UX/Visual Designer to join it’s London team.

Job Description

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a next generation, UX Designer to help evolve our portfolio of digital brands.  We are looking for a creative, resourceful and highly motivated person who has experience working across multiple screens / platforms and can cross the boundaries of UX and visual design. This person would work with the Head of Design and teams across a variety of News/Editorial, Marketing, Advertising and re-design projects for all Thomson Reuters Foundation brands, understanding requirements, working to establish solutions and creating visual design for all of our key projects and websites.  This person will work closely with our editorial team to develop innovative ways to present the work of our reporters around the world.


In this position, the successful candidate will:

  • Concept and design through execution
  • Design across multi-screen experiences
  • Work on multiple projects
  • Apply brand identity systems, typography, photography, color and other ingredients to create innovative visual solutions that meet business and user needs
  • Have a strong understanding of new technologies and production methodologies that supports the entire UX/Design process
  • Develop responsive design models
  • Have a strong understanding of information architecture
  • Design user interfaces proficiently
  • Have excellent typography design skills
  • Develop and maintain design guidelines
  • Have a detailed understanding of online production and optimization processes
  • Create visual prototypes on and off screen
  • Be extremely detail oriented and provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables
  • Collaborate with news/editorial, marketing, advertising and business development teams to activate new and evolving opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Related Degree
  • 5+ years of digital news room / publishing industry experience
  • Strong design portfolio with large scale newsroom / publishing websites present
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail is a must
  • A solid knowledge of the latest versions of applicable programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.
  • Passion for design and eagerness to learn a must
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Knowledge of bootstrap
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to other team members
  • A solid understanding of information architecture and UX practices
  • Experience working in a large global team environment

  • Strong understanding of frontend code, HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc. Front end development skills are preferred
