As our proactive, inspiring and influential Information & Communications Co-ordinator – Emergency Response Personnel (ERP) you`ll collect, analyse and disseminate critical information, providing essential communications, media and advocacy support in emergency situations.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

Assuming an impactful role in the ERP Team, as our Information & Communications Co-ordinator you could be deployed at any stage of an emergency response. You`ll prepare communications outputs (such as situation reports and key messages), assist with information management, and gather powerful communications materials that ensure children`s voices are heard. You will also:

  • Build an external profile (across fundraising, media, campaigns and advocacy)
  • Collect qualitative materials, through gentle, expert interviewing, resulting in case studies and testimonies
  • Write donor proposals
  • Support on assessment and report writing for programmatic objectives
  • Help build capacity in country programmes in the areas of information management and communications.

You will have a passion for storytelling, will be motivated by a desire to tackle injustice and will be able to deliver creative communications work under pressure, to tight deadlines. You will have a background in human rights research or journalism, experience of working with vulnerable people in a sensitive manner, and of working with data.  An excellent, adaptable writer, you will additionally have:

  • The ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload and to solve problems quickly with limited support
  • Experience of working overseas in humanitarian programmes, or of writing about and living in difficult contexts, alongside a relevant educational qualification
  • Experience of managing a team and of leading communications activities in a challenging environment
  • A background acting as an effective spokesperson across a range of media
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, experience of delivering training / presentations, and the ability to be flexible, accommodating and culturally appropriate in difficult or insecure working circumstances.

This role requires fluent English and French.

At Save the Children our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen  and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we`ll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
