With the increasing frequency and severity of emergencies world-wide we are increasing our capacity to support vital nutrition programmes in both sudden onset and chronic emergency situations. Our Emergency Response Personnel (ERP) plays a key part in our humanitarian department by helping us to respond effectively to emergencies world-wide, and we are scaling up their involvement even more. To help us with our ambitious plans we are currently seeking Nutrition Advisers and Senior Nutrition Advisers.

As one of our Nutrition Advisers you will be deployed to the field as the lead adviser in a small to medium-scale emergency or filling a gap for a senior advisory role in a chronic humanitarian country programme, you will carry out short-term assessment, programme design, capacity analysis or monitoring and evaluation activities. 

As well as carrying out the duties of a Nutritional Adviser on medium to large-scale complex emergencies, as our Senior Nutrition Adviser you will be expected to lead on sectoral assessment, programme design and master budgeting, coordination, and support fundraising, recruitment and procurement.  Playing a key leadership role within a response team, you will provide 360o support to colleagues and ensure that broader sector coordination mechanisms are functioning effectively. Acting as mentor and capacity builder for international and national colleagues, you will also contribute to global level Nutrition working groups, working closely with HQ advisers on organisational strategy, capacity building, policy and advocacy initiatives.

We are looking for people with experience of leading nutritional response in an emergency and demonstrable technical capacity in CMAM, IYCF-E and assessments. A fluent French speaker, you must also be comfortable in and adaptable to challenging and complex environments.

You must also have:

  • A Masters level in Public Health Nutrition, or a related subject, or equivalent field experience
  • Previous experience of first phase international emergency humanitarian response
  • Previous experience of programme management across multiple locations
  • Demonstrated ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex programmes
  • Demonstrated ability to set up learning and development processes for a large Nutrition team
  • Experience of developing and negotiating successful partnerships at senior level with institutional donors
  • Excellent communication, assessment and report writing skills
  • Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Willingness to be deployed up to 80% of the time
  • All members of our ERP team are available and ready to be deployed anywhere in the world at short notice.  You will normally work unusual hours, undertake a lot of travel to insecure environments (deployed up to 80% of the time).

In return we are offering a salary of:

• Nutrition Adviser - £32,105 + £2,500 hardship allowance.

• Senior Nutrition Adviser - £35,275 + £2,500 hardship allowance.

In addition you will receive 35 days Annual Leave per year, medical insurance while on deployment, travel and accommodation provided for, paid R&R, complexity allowance and expensive posting allowance where applicable.
