The total salary package for these positions is £59,004 - £65,172 per annum including basic salary, cost of living allowance and hardship allowance.

About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the DRC programme:

Between 1996 and 2003, the Democratic Republic of Congo was the site of the most deadly conflict since World War Two, which led to as many as 5.4 million deaths and left the country contaminated by landmines and unexploded ordnance. MAG has been working in DRC since 2004 removing and destroying landmines and carrying out risk education work with communities, to raise awareness of the problems and promote safe behaviour. We are also the only non-governmental organisation accredited to carry out arms management and destruction initiatives in the country, which began in 2006.

About the role:

Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work, and actively manage and lead our teams of national staff to safely implement our life saving work. Our AMD Technical Field Managers work regularly with national and local defence forces and security authorities, including the police and military. They must be willing to lead from the front, responsible for the day-to-day management of our technical interventions and being involved in all aspects of MAG’s project work, including administration, finance, procurement of equipment, reporting and planning. Roles can often be remote, working in challenging contexts away from home comforts, but the life-saving impact the work has on local communities is very real, and rewarding.  This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in MAG’s life-saving work on a day-to-day basis.

About you:

To be considered for one of the roles, you will have experience in one or more of the following areas: weapons marking, cutting and setting up of weapons destruction activities, bulk demolitions and upgrades to weapons holding facilities. Ideally, this experience would be from the humanitarian or commercial arms management sectors.  However, we will also consider applications from candidates who have gained the necessary technical and practice experience in the military and can demonstrate a keen interest and willingness to learn the skills needed. You must be willing to take on the challenges of working in the developing world, as part of a flexible and committed team, to save lives in communities that need it most. Candidates must be fluent in both French and English.
