We are looking for an experienced individual to join us as a Senior Programme Manager to play a leading role in the scoping, design and start-up of new Humanitarian Partnership Opportunities, working with colleagues from across SCUK’s Humanitarian Department, the SC Movement and the wider humanitarian sector.

As the Senior Programme Manager – Humanitarian Partnerships, you will bring strategic input as well as high level stakeholder engagement and management skills to steward new humanitarian sector ‘global good’ ideas through their early stages of development. Working closely with the Director of Humanitarian Partnerships, you will develop business cases for new humanitarian opportunities and present these to senior internal and external stakeholders.  In addition you will:

  • Work closely with colleagues from across the Humanitarian Department, scoping new humanitarian opportunities for SCUK to incubate on behalf of the sector
  • Project manage the design of new collaborative initiatives, including addressing governance, operational, programmatic and funding requirements
  • Lead or support bid teams for humanitarian partnerships funding opportunities likely to involve multiple agencies
  • Engage with NGO, private sector and government stakeholders to build interest around new collaborative humanitarian business models

To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, flexible, pro-active and have strong organisation and administration skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work. You will have professional interpersonal and communication skills, including in relation to highly confidential and sensitive material. You will also have excellent negotiating and networking skills. In addition you will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of the global humanitarian eco-system and current humanitarian debates
  • Strong understanding of the UK humanitarian sector
  • Previous experience of designing and/or managing collaborative initiatives and/or start-up organisations
  • Excellent project management experience and skills
  • The ability to write strong business cases, which satisfy both strategic and business needs
  • Experience of preparing research reports, briefing papers or discussions documents

Experience of working in emergency response contexts and an existing network within the UK humanitarian sector is desirable.
