Oxfam in the Philippines is recruiting for a Gender Coordinator (national position) based in Tacloban that will work with gender officers, Area Programme Managers, sector coordinators and team leaders, through capacity building, coordination, mentoring and monitoring, making sure that Oxfam’s Haiyan Response meets the gender minimum standards as well as promotes women’s voice, participation and leadership. The Gender Coordinator will also participate and contribute meaningfully to the relevant UN-Philippine government clusters (e.g., GBV sub-cluster, gender mainstreaming committee, etc). The Gender Coordinator is expected to provide high-quality support to different units of the Haiyan Response and to partners according to Oxfam’s standards and contribute to Oxfam’s global and regional learning aspirations.

 

The post holder should have an excellent understanding of gender mainstreaming and women’s rights; and experience in promoting women’s leadership and decision making in areas of sustainable livelihoods emergencies , and disaster risk reduction and should have a t least 3 years in a management or coordinator position. They should have Strong analytical skills and well-developed ability to think strategically, including the ability to analyse post disaster reconstruction and development trends, specifically gender issues. The person also needs to be well organised, with good attention to detail and developed ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines and organise work in a complex institutional setting.  A high level of interpersonal and communications skills including tact, diplomacy and negotiation skills are also essential for this role. They must be fluent in English and Filippino.

 Salary: 80839 PhP per month. Contract: 12 months Fixed term.
