We are looking for an assertive and confident self-starter to join us as Senior Programme Manager, developing and delivering a shared vision, strategy and ways of working for all the Girls Education Challenge (GEC) awards.
Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.
As Senior Programme Manager you will provide appropriate senior level advice, monitoring, coordination and representation to ensure that the strategic, operational and compliance aspects of the grant are met and that in country project teams can effectively manage the implementation the grant. You will also have responsibility for coordinating the provision of other forms of advice and support from SC UK to Country Offices. In addition you will:
- Act as first point of contact with donors and fund managers for contract and grant negotiation and management purposes
- Coordinate the development of an underlying vision and strategy for all the GEC awards and sound understanding of gender and education among all stakeholders
- Create appropriate experience sharing spaces for GEC project directors and SCUK stakeholders to review progress, learn lessons and adapt programmes accordingly
- Work with SCI country and SC UK colleagues to develop management processes and build capacity to deliver quality programmes and meet key deadlines.
To be successful you will have proven project management skills with an NGO with the ability to own and deliver work with minimal supervison. Experience at a senior level within a crisis affected state managing institutional donor funded programmes of over £5m is also essential. You will have a good knowledge of DFID and / or PWC contract and grant compliance requirements. In addition you will have:
- Outstanding diplomacy and mediation skills suitable for working with donors, fund managers, and numerous Save the Children offices
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify key points from complex material and multiple information sources
- A willingness to travel up to 70% of the time.
