Role overview
Myanmar is slowly opening up to the outside world after many years of isolation. Your role wil be to work with regional and/or township-level health departments and partner organizations to identify the particular health challenges they face; and to develop and sustainable solutions.


You will be required to mentor key health staff in health system management; to improve their ability to plan, deliver and evaluate health systems, particularly in the areas of maternal and child health. You will strengthen the capacity of health management staff in the daily organization of health services, with particular attention to mother and child health. You will also build their capacity in the areas of human resource management; financial management; monitoring & evaluation; utilization of data and developing reports.

You will provide coaching and feedback to health management coleagues, in order to encourage individual learning and reflection on their daily duties. You will maintain excellent communications with the partner organization`s team, take direction from partner managers, and alert them to the challenges you identify in health system management. You will consistently advocate for respectful and dignified care.

Skills, qualifications and experience required
An ideal candidate will have ALL of the qualities below, but we anticipate appointing candidates who many not have all of these, but do have a strong management background, some relevant work experience and most importantly training / coaching experience in the health sector.

Qualifications are either as public health professional or as a doctor or degree-level nurse with advanced experience in health systems or health programmes.

Essential:
• At least 7 years work experience in the health sector (ideally in management of reproductive and maternal and child health programs), with progressively increasing responsibilities.
• Prior training experience.
• Up-to-date knowledge in the field of health management. A specialization in maternal and child health, including some or all of the following: monitoring and evaluation, financial management, human resource management, etc. will be highly evaluated.
• Solid communication, presentation and writing skills.
• Demonstrated self-management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure, adaptability).
• Willingness to live outside of Yangon and work in a rural or semi-rural district.
• Able to ride motorbike or wiling to learn.

Desirable:
• Knowledge of strategic planning, training programme development and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
Myanmar Language (failing which, a translator will be provided).
• Previous developing country work experience
