The role

The Governance Advisor is a new exciting cross divisional role that comes out of Oxfam’s commitment to ensure programme quality in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

This role will support the implementation of Oxfam’s strategy for fragile and conflict-affected contexts and support country programmes to ensure their policy and programme approaches are aligned with the strategy and designed and implemented to achieve the greatest impact.

In addition the Governance Advisor will provide programme coordination and targeted technical advisory support to particular programme initiatives on governance and fragility. 

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced international development programme manager who has worked in fragile and conflict affected countries. The successful candidate will have substantive knowledge and experience of what it takes to achieve impact in fragile and conflict contexts, including development programming in the area of governance, civil society strengthening, voice and participation, social contract approaches & working with formal and informal power holders. 

In addition, they will demonstrate substantive knowledge and experience of conflict sensitivity. They will also have strong analytical skills with the proven ability to identify lessons from programme experience and the ability to provide advisory support to both senior managers and project staff.

The role could be in Oxford, or in a country location where Oxfam GB is based. It will require the ability to travel away from home for 8-12 weeks per year
