With the increasing frequency and severity of emergencies world-wide the organisation is in the process of increasing its capacity to support programmes in both sudden onset and chronic emergency situations. 

 

About the Role

 

This role will focus on key areas of work which support the Humanitarian department’s core strategic objectives:

 

  • Growing global humanitarian capacity and capability through placements for staff that have completed humanitarian training programmes such as those offered by the Capacity Building & Training team as well as the Humanitarian Leadership Academy.
  • Creating a UK emergency responders platform that can be used to deploy civil society and other externally sourced staff to humanitarian crises as required.
  • Increasing surge response capacity and capability through initiatives such as the Emergency Response Team and the Emergency Health Unit

 

The role holder will have the responsibility to increase the number and range of humanitarian surge staff available for rapid deployment to a broad spectrum of humanitarian crises, and to embed effective performance management, efficient deployment mechanisms and wellbeing considerations into their day to day, and longer term, career management.

 

About you 

 

You are highly organized with excellent leadership, mentoring and coordination skills with a proven customer focus and the ability to maintain excellent attention to detail when managing multiple work streams. Strongly interested in the working within the humanitarian department, you are a great leader, and have an ability to deal tactfully with colleagues from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds across multiple time zones. Ideally you have an understanding of the specific needs of humanitarian within an emergency response context whilst simultaneously maintaining the highest regard for best practise and staff wellbeing. You are fluent in English and French.
