CARE is seeking an Associate Director of Development to plan, direct and implement individual fund raising with a portfolio of major and planned giving prospects and donors in the Northeast region of the United States. Based in the New York City office and travelling throughout the region, the Associate Director works with individual donors and family/private foundations to raise major gifts for CARE’s unrestricted program, The Impact Fund, as well as restricted gifts focused on CARE’s core programs.
Primary Responsibility:
•Grow a ${esc.dollar}400,000 portfolio of individual major donors & prospects to ${esc.dollar}1M +
•The Associate Director is expected to win and maintain personal visits with donors and prospects, initiate creative one-on-one engagement, and design and close major gift and planned gift solicitations.
•Coordinate with the Office of Research to continually identify, qualify and manage prospects
•Coordinate with Business Operations for the development of proposals and reports for donors and prospects
•Work with the Office of Leadership Development to co-create meaningful engagement strategies for their portfolio of donors and prospects, including the development and implementation of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.
Primary Skills:
•Bachelor`s Degree required; passion for global poverty reduction essential; an advanced degree in international development subject areas a plus
•3-5 years of fund raising experience with demonstrable success in raising major gifts from individuals. Experience working on a major gift fundraising campaign a plus.
•Conversant in planned giving to provide major donors with a broad array of resource engagement opportunities
•General familiarity with key aspects of major individual fund raising, including planned giving, stewardship functions and database usage
•Ability to work independently and in collaboration
•Strong, persuasive, verbal and written communication skills
