Role overview
To assist with the coordination of disaster relief and response, and to build capacity of the District Development Committee (DCC) to handle disaster response.

The volunteer will be attached to the district government office - liaising between various district government departments and between INGOs/NGOs to coordinate the enormous needs of the disaster, and then support capacity building in various areas to enable the districts to manage future disasters well (preparedness planning).

Skills, qualifications and experience required
Qualifications:
• Degree or post graduate degree in a relevant discipline

Essential:
• Effective Project Management skills
• Experience of coordinating collection, collating and sharing of information among a very large number of agencies
• Excellent people skills and the ability to work with government officials and senior managers.
• Excellent negotiating skills

Desirable:
• Experience in disaster relief and response management.
• Experience of working in a disaster area.
