The Role

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a dynamic candidate for an anticipated donor‐funded project on 'Strengthening Independent Media in Syria' as Media Training Coordinator. The project focuses on improving access for Syrians to unbiased, accurate information as a means to empower citizens, hold Syrian regime and opposition groups accountable while continuing to build and support the independent media sector in Syria.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a full time position with primary responsibility of leading on training delivery and evaluation. The Media Training Coordinator will report directly to the Media Training and Capacity Building Expert based in Gaziantep.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage and facilitate smooth running of training activities in Turkey and Jordan including coordinating training dates, engaging trainers and providing logistics for travel and training.
- Keep and update documentation records related to training workshops delivered. This includes keeping a complete record of the trainees' information such as attendance sheets, evaluation and feedback forms and test results and reporting to the Media Training and Capacity Building Expert at the end of each training delivery,
- Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to determine required information and identify training needs.
- Undertake database entry and online reporting as required by the M&E team.
- Contact and engage with lead trainers, consultants and beneficiaries as part of the training.
- Ensure in‐depth reporting on regional training issues and effective solutions to mitigate them.
- Ensure adherence to training administrative procedures and guidelines, exercising quality control for training activities.
- Able to travel within Turkey and Jordan to facilitate training activities.
- Any other responsibilities requested by the line manager.

Qualifications and Person Specification:
- Three to five years of experience in training coordination and reporting.
- University degree preferred.
- Good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation of training related activities.
- Prior experience on a development or capacity‐building program or initiative.
- Familiarity with media in the Middle East and the development world is preferred.
- Demonstrated detail‐orientation and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proven interpersonal, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Fluent in Arabic with good knowledge of English (written communication and presentation skills).

Anticipated project start date: March 2016
Location: Gaziantep, Turkey
Project Duration: 24 months (full‐time position)
