IRC's Policy & Practice department is the technical hub and policy shop of the International Rescue Committee. Policy & Practice comprises the technical sector, research, policy and communications experts who will help bring this strategy to life in the years to come.
Job Overview/Summary:
The IRC is investing in making our work more effective through defining outcomes, examining the evidence-base, measuring our results and analyzing costs. The IRC's Research, Evaluation & Learning Unit is leading this effort. The Communications Officer will be integrally involved in the internal and external communication of IRC’s implementation of the IRC strategy initiatives around outcomes, evidence, measurement and best use of resources, all falling under the prevue of the Policy & Practice department. The position will report to the Deputy Director for Research, Evaluation & Learning, and will be responsible for feeding into key deliverables within the work streams of the strategy initiatives.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop strategy and lead implementation of internal communications and change management for IRC strategy initiatives around outcomes, evidence, measurement and best use of resources.
- Develop strategy and lead implementation of organizational efforts to share policy-relevant messages about IRC’s focus on outcomes and evidence to the World Humanitarian Summit as well as to wider policy audiences and targets.
- Work with strategy initiative owners to develop and implement effective dissemination and awareness raising to peer agencies and donors.
- Ensure wide internal awareness, key messaging and planning to influence behavior of specific Policy & Practice and International Programs colleagues over the next 1-3 years.
- Develop and track project management milestones related to relevant bodies of work, keeping key stakeholders abreast of progress, challenges and bottlenecks to resolve.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, international affairs, or related field with at least 4 years of progressive experience as a project coordinator or project manager
- Experience in managing large-scale, cross-functional projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated experience in change management
- Demonstrated fluency in project management competencies
- Communications experience
- Knowledge of or experience in the international aid sector preferred
