About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Syria Response Programme:

MAG has been working in Southern Turkey responding to the Syria crisis since 2013. Our work supports recovery from conflict by finding and destroying explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury.

About the role:

As a Community Liaison (CL) Manager working out of South-East Turkey, with travel within the region as operationally necessary, you will provide remote training and management to partner CL teams to implement key CL activities and enable liaison with a wide range of stakeholders. Your role will be to enhance national capacity building through contributing to the design and delivery of training and coaching to national Community Liaison staff who will be undertaking Risk Education and Non-technical survey in affected communities. This will involve designing and delivering Mine Risk Education programmes to be implemented in the region by your Community Liaison teams. Alongside this, the Community Liaison Manager will be expected to contribute to the design and development of data gathering tools and information management systems, supporting the development of revised impact monitoring tools and working with the programme to enhance their CL strategy.  Finally, this role will be working as a standalone CLM in programme. You will therefore need experience of working autonomously with excellent  communication skills.

About you:

You will have experience of leading, motivating and managing national staff, have strong participatory learning and facilitation skills, and importantly experience of implementing surveys. It’s also essential, that you have strong skills in the analysis of data and impact monitoring. Knowledge and experience of working in the Middle East/conflict environments and working with partner organisations would also be an asset. Fluent English is essential, with a working knowledge of Arabic would be beneficial for this position.

You should be aware, MAG’s areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so you will need to be able to live and work in challenging environments, where the need for your skills and MAG’s work is most.
