About MAG:
MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Angola Programme:
We are currently seeking a Country Director for our Angola programme. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an established programme, leading a small team of international staff and circa 130 national staff. The MAG Angola programme is looking to consolidate its position in Angola and to strengthen and develop its national capacity. Mine action in Angola is critical to the ongoing efforts to reconstruct and rehabilitate a country devastated by years of conflict.

About the role:
As Country Director, you will spend time both in the capital, Luanda, and also in our field office in Luena. Reporting to the Regional Director at MAG HQ, you will have a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the effective integration of strategic, programmatic and operational management of the Angola programme. You will also have the opportunity to use your skills in business development, to take a leading role in institutional and corporate donor development, and identifying funding opportunities in a demanding donor environment.

About you:
You will need experience of working overseas in international aid, emergency or development environments including expertise in programme and project design, development, management, monitoring and evaluation. You will also need experience of managing a staff team and managing finances. You should have the ability to work within complicated national and internal political frameworks and experience of building and developing management systems to improve programme accountability and efficiency. You don’t need previous experience in mine action and we welcome applications from experienced managers from any development sector.

Regional experience would be a distinct advantage as would Portuguese language skills, but this is not essential. You should however show willingness to learn to communicate effectively in Portuguese.

For the further information on the role, the application form and details of how to apply, please visit, the MAG website at www.maginternational.org/vacancies-at-MAG by the closing date of 4th May 2015.
