The role

The Consortium Coordinator is a senior role to provide oversight of 3 million GBP, DFID-funded health and nutrition consortium programme in Central African Republic. In close cooperation with consortium partners, the Consortium Coordinator ensures that the project is implemented according to the approved proposal and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Dfid. The post-holder leads in terms of giving support and direction to the programme, as well as managing the relationship and information flows between the key stakeholders; the donor representatives in-country, International Medical Corps (IMC), Save the Children (SC), Oxfam, and the Mentor Initiative. The programme focuses on four key areas of improved health services delivery: providing the minimum package of health care services at facilities, supporting community initiatives, strengthening nutrition prevention and treatment services, and improving the WASH capacities of 17 health facilities. The programme implements a combination of activities ranging from direct support and capacity building, to community participation. The programme is implemented in four prefectures; Ouham Pendé, Ouham, Haute Kotto, and Basse Kotto.



Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • A post-graduate degree in education or in any of the social science subjects.
  • At least 5 years relevant senior programme management experience in an international NGO or similar organization.
  • Extensive experience managing complex projects, including multiple stakeholders and under tight deadlines
  • Experience managing Dfid funded projects including an excellent understanding of Dfid guidelines/ standards
  • A good understanding of humanitarian assistance and fragile states
  • High-level communications and people skills. Excellent writing, articulate, good networker, able to adroitly negotiate between the different stakeholders, and to represent the programme at high level forums. Proven analytical and strategic planning skills
  • Proven international experience, preferably in Africa, in providing technical support to complex health programmes. Experience in research and analysis will be an added benefit.
  • Previous experience in donor reporting particularly to DFID.
  • Ability to design, roll out and maintenance of monitoring & evaluation tools and frameworks.
  • Proven ability in working in insecure or hardship environments. The position will require extensive travel to the field in partner locations.
  • Professional fluency in both French and English required

Desirable

  • Previous experience in Central African Republic and/or central Africa region
  • Master’s degree related to health, Social Sciences, Business Administration and/or complex emergencies and/or comparable relevant years of experience.
