The role

The FSL Manager(s) will be based in Dhamar overseeing food security and livelihoods programs in Dhamar governorate in Yemen. In addition to directly managing large-scale, multi-year projects, the FSL Manager will be expected to lead on sectoral assessments, programme design, master budgeting, coordination, recruitment and procurement. The post holder will be expected to mentor and capacity build existing country programme staff.

The role is an unaccompanied position for a period of 2 years.

Qualifications and experience

  • Masters/Bachelors Degree in Development, Agriculture or related field
  • At least 3 years of management experience in emergency, fragile state or development
  • Previous experience of managing an FSL team at national level
  • Experience of and commitment to community participation and accountability
  • Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff in FSL technical skills
  • Experience of preparing successful funding proposals for donors
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • A high level of written and spoken English
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support

Desirable

  • Language skills in Arabic
  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
  • Specific experience of designing and managing DFID, ECHO, OFDA, FFP and other major donor projects
  • Specific experience of working in consortia projects.
  • or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
