About us

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. We have made enormous progress for children in the last few years and have ambitious targets to build on this momentum.

Our Legal & Compliance Team supports the organisation to meet its goals. As well as advising all parts of the charity, from our fundraising and campaigning and to our UK overseas programming work, our team also sets the standard for compliance, data protection and information security, to ensure that we meet our ongoing targets.

About the Role

This is a part-time role working 28 hours per week, and is offered on a fixed term contract for between 3-6 months.

The role of Legal Council is to assist the Deputy General Counsel and Legal & Compliance Team in providing advice on legal matters across Save the Children.

We are leaders in creating innovative partnerships with the commercial sector and other agencies. You will have the opportunity to advise on these and other commercial agreements, including fundraising, IP/IT and procurement contracts, and to ensure the Save the Children brand is protected in the UK.

As an expert in your field, you’ll advise staff on legal issues and risks, including corporate and charity governance, fundraising, marketing, data protection, trademarks, copyright, defamation and litigation matters. You’ll also provide legal support for our ongoing overseas programmes with Save the Children International and Merlin.

About You

We see you being an England and Wales-qualified solicitor or barrister with a sound knowledge of contract, commercial and IP/IT law. Previous experience in PQE would be great, but not essential. This is a great opportunity to join us if you are already in the charity sector or are looking to transfer from either in-house or private practice.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
