ChildFund Alliance

Secretary General

A worldwide alliance of children’s development organisations, we work in 58 countries to improve the lives of vulnerable and excluded children, help them overcome poverty, and achieve their rights.

Founded 75 years ago, our members are not-for-profit organisations which work directly with children, families and their communities. The Alliance seeks to speak with one global voice for, with and on behalf of children.

Our vision is a world in which children realise their rights and achieve their potential.

ChildFund Alliance spends more than US$ 0.5 billion a year in achieving its mission and has established sustainable, self-financing and highly successful national partner organisations in developing and middle income countries. We have a worldwide support base and proven track record in delivering quality programs for the benefit of more than 15 million children and their families, raising funds to support our work.

Our approach leverages our deep understanding of children’s experiences of deprivation, exclusion and vulnerability. Combined with our decades of experience, our direct link with children gives us the legitimacy to speak out with them on issues affecting children and their rights.

ChildFund Alliance is now seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to be their Secretary General; to represent the voice and interests of children and to provide strategic leadership to increase the impact and growth of the Alliance members. S/he will shape and lead the Alliance’s global advocacy agenda and provide public representation at the highest levels in order that the Alliance as a whole is enabled to deliver increased impact and growth.

The Secretary General will be an inspiring and transformational leader with the ability to represent, influence and engage with diverse audiences as well as to relate and reach consensus within diverse cultures. S/he will be driven by a sophisticated understanding of child-centered community development, committed to working through a rights–based approach and familiar with child sponsorship as a sustainable and relational approach to tackling poverty.
