Contract length: 6-9 months, unaccompanied


The role

Initially, under the direct supervision of the HR Director and with technical support from the Programing Staff, the Child Safeguarding Technical Advisor will oversee the child safeguarding policy and quality standards implementation. S/he will be responsible to ensure that quality child safeguarding practices are exercised and delivered across all sectors & location of the organization. This not only encompasses internal aspects of Child Safeguarding with staff but also external aspects of our programming (through partners and project quality). This role is meant to establish systems, build capacity and awareness and subsequently transition to a Myanmar national position.



Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Minimum of Bachelor Degree in relevant field
  • Strong experience in policy development, manual, procedure on child protection.
  • Strong experience of children related programming
  • Strong background and experience in child protection issues, including work and vulnerable children and managing issues.
  • Ability to communicate complete and sensitive information to a wide and diverse audience
  • Experience of project management
  • Experience in conducting assessment, monitoring and evaluation, strong analysis and writing report
  • Ability to facilitate training to a diverse audience (in terms of education, language ability)
  • Solid knowledge base and practical experience in community based child protection approaches, including experience in participatory approaches and child participation methodologies.
  • Experience in building networks and coordination with other organizations who are working with children.
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of email, internet and designing/publication.
  • Ability to influence internal and external audiences at all level of the organisation.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desirable

  • Experience of rolling out Child Safeguarding Policy application within organisational structures.
